On Thursday 31st October Medway Queen was towed out of the Albion Dock, through the floating harbour and down the River Avon to Avonmouth. She will wait there until there is a suitable weather window, to allow the tow proper to commence. October/November is not a good time for a decent weather window, as the recent storms have proved.
A number of videos of the move have appeared on YouTube, one by Branch member Geoff Hale can be found here.

MEDWAY QUEEN - Update 28th October 2013
The tug Christine arrived in Bristol about a fortnight ago in readiness to tow Medway Queen back to the Medway.
The necessary certificates to allow MQ to be towed must have now been issued, as she was towed out of the Albion Dock last Wednesday. A short film of the move can be seen by clicking HERE. They are now waiting for a good weather window before the tow can commence.
The PSPS Scottish Branch has a press release about the move, on their site. Bristol Channel branch member Geoff Hale has recently been aboard Medway Queen and has produced a 6 minute video of his visit - the film can be viewed here.

REDEDICATION PS MEDWAY QUEEN - Sat 27th July 2013
Pete Devrell has come up trumps again! Last Saturday he went along to Abels Shipyard in Bristol for the Rededication of Medway Queen. Video footage shot that day has been put onto YouTube and can be viewed by clicking the following link http://youtu.be/UrnT1zG2W0s some stills from the video appear below.
The last time that I saw MQ, she was very much still a skeleton of frames and stringers with plating up to the waterline area. Looking at these pictures, she is well on the way to being ready to be towed around to Gillingham where fitting out will be completed.

BALMORAL UNDERWAY IN 2013! * * UPDATED * *
Underway, but she didn't travel very far. Geoff Hale caught her on film moving from her berth on Princes Wharf to a vacant berth further down the dock - the move necessary as her usual berth was required for the Bristol Harbour Festival taking place 26th - 28th July.
The short film footage can be seen by clicking the following link: http://youtu.be/K_FG9Xja9ls. The sailing ship that appears in the film, is the IRENE, she was the last sailing vessel trading on the Bristol Channel - right up until 1960. The story of Irene (mainly from 1960 to the present) can be found HERE.
UPDATE: if you want to watch the return trip made on Tuesday 30th July, follow this link: http://youtu.be/Th9fgc-tbgs

Waverley: Greenock / Millport 26 July 2012
Balmoral will be back on the channel in a few days time. Peter Deverell couldn't wait for a trip so he travelled to Scotland for a cruise on Waverley. Sailing from Greenock via Helensburgh, Dunoon, Rothesay, and Largs to Millport for a couple of hours ashore - time to cycle around Cumbrea.
Peter shot some video footage of the trip and has uploaded a 15 minute clip to his YouTube (devsteam) channel, it can be viewed by clicking HERE.
Thanks to Peter for allowing the use of the following stills from the video.
